The possibilities that 5G brings to the event industry

Beyond the increase in download speed or the ease of file sharing, 5G will enable much more realistic and impactful immersive experiences, marking a new era for the events industry.

One of the great benefits that this technology will offer is to put an end to connectivity problems, especially when it comes to mass events, allowing attendees to have a more fluid interaction with brands. In fact, the variety of formats to create, share or receive content expands; so if your company wants to reach the target through mobile Apps, wearables or beacons, you will have all the power of the network to ensure the success of the experience without technical failures in the process.

Another alternative that will make a difference is holographic interactivity. Companies that have made use of this type of experience have managed to astonish their audience thanks to the futuristic touch taken from the screens and brought to reality, however, what has been projected so far are pre-recorded holographic videos, but with the minimum latency of 5G, the attendee can interact live with the hologram, ensuring greater brand recall in your potential customer.

And without going too far, this technology will also allow actions as simple as the reproduction of an institutional video to be much more efficient, since the speed of 5G will be between 100 and 1,000 times faster, accessing any content without interruption in 4K formats or with higher definitions.

Indeed, the aforementioned experiences were closely experienced by those who attended, in 2019, the opening in Valencia (Spain) of the Global 5G Event, where they managed to dazzle the participants with the first holographic videoconference without latency. At the same event, a Spanish company presented the first virtual immersion experience of diving under ice through virtual reality goggles, with an oscillating platform and an interactive rope to move forward, significantly impacting the attendees.

Immersive experiences that will become a trend

The biggest impact that the implementation of 5G will bring is related to the progress of 3D events, achieving enhanced immersive experiences that allow the user to be placed in more realistic virtual brand spaces.

Clearly one of the success factors of these tools has been the level of humanization they have achieved by integrating real-world spaces. However, by having technology that enhances the structuring, access and navigation to these scenarios, virtual events will offer their own advantages in terms of experiences that are not available in reality, giving way to special effects, exotic scenarios, and in general, interactions on an unprecedented scale; very similar to what was experienced during the event of rapper Travis Scott who recreated an astronomical musical experience on the virtual stage of the video game Fortnite, attracting 12.3 million players, the largest number of audience for a Thursday night in history.

In general, the technological paradigm shift is becoming more and more real, since developments such as augmented reality are already part of our daily lives, so, with the arrival of this new generation of wireless networks, what we will see is a wave of experiences with extended realities allowing companies to work in a more intelligent and effective way with their audiences.

This only confirms that, regardless of the brand, market or target you want to reach, the options that are enabled through platforms for virtual events are endless, so do not be afraid of innovation, because trying new ways and alternatives for your company is called evolution.
